Admission Information

Adults who wish to apply to the Academic Upgrading Program may call 403-235-9300 for current program information.

Academic Assessment

Potential students will be required to complete an academic assessment to determine their starting level in the Program.  Students who have completed high school courses in Alberta within the last three years must provide an official transcript indicating that they possess the required prerequisites for the courses they wish to take.  Please call 403-235-9300 to book an assessment appointment.  Students will be required to complete a Program Application Form. There is currently no charge for the assessment test.

Interview

Upon successful review of the application form, each potential student will have an opportunity to schedule an interview with a Student Admission Advisor and the Program Manager to review his/her assessment results and/or transcripts to arrive at a starting level for his/her program.  His/her career goal will be discussed at this time.  This career goal will be used to determine a student’s educational plan based on the high school courses required to pursue his/her career goal.

Adults who do not have a career goal will be referred to the Career Development Centre at 855 – 8 Avenue SW, for assistance in determining an appropriate career goal before completing the registration procedure.

Individual Student Program Plan

The student, academic advisor, and program manager will complete an Individual Student Program Plan indicating the assessment results, career goal, educational goal, starting level and starting date.  Expected completion date will be discussed at this time.

Student Performance

Students are required to display a positive work ethic.  Part of this work ethic includes regular and punctual attendance and the completion of all assigned work on time.  It is also important that individuals display pride in their work as demonstrated by the quality of the assignments they complete.  Students are expected to behave in a courteous, respectful and mature manner.
