As one step in the selection process, potential students will be asked to complete one or more assessments. These assessments will help us determine if the student’s academic skills in such areas as reading and writing are sufficient enough to complete his/her program of study.
If a student’s skills need to be improved in one or more academic areas he/she may be referred to tuition free upgrading courses at Columbia College (see Bridging Programs).
Pre-Program Start Requirements:
- Proof of Police Information Check application (receipt) demonstrating that the student has applied for a Police Information Check is allowed as approved by the Program Chair.
- Meet other admission requirements as determined by the program
International Applications or Applicants Educated Outside of Canada:
English Language Proficiency can be demonstrated by any of the following:
- Achievement of a TOEFL score of 550 on the paper-based text; a score of 197 on the computer-based test, or a score of 71 on the Internet-based test (iBT)
- Achievement of an IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score of 5.5
- Successful achievement of the Columbia College English for Academic Purposes program with a grade of B
Other requirements as determined by the program.
Criminal Justice Professional Diploma Program
Academic Requirements for Full or Part-Time Students
To be admitted to the Criminal Justice Professional Diploma Program, the candidate must successfully complete the Criminal Justice Professional Certificate Program at Columbia College or its equivalent from a recognized institution. The candidate must also meet other admission requirements as determined by the program.
Admission Application
The first step in the admission process is to complete the Admission Application. This is located on the back page of the Academic Calendar or by clicking the Apply button at the top of the page.
Applicants will first meet with an Admissions Advisor to discuss their suitability for the program. Potential applicants will also have an interview with the Criminal Justice Program Manager to determine suitability and acceptance to the program.
