Human Services Professional Certificate

Academic Requirements for Full or Part-Time Students

As one step in the selection process, potential students will be asked to complete one or more assessments. These assessments will help us determine if the student’s academic skills in such areas as reading and writing are sufficient enough to complete his/her program of study.

If a student’s skills need to be improved in one or more academic areas he/she may be referred to tuition free upgrading courses at Columbia College (see Bridging Programs).

Other Requirements

    • Current Police Information Check (PIC)
    • Current Child Intervention Check
    • Other requirements as determined by the Program

      International Applicants or Applicants Educated Outside of Canada
      English Language Proficiency can be demonstrated by any of the following:

      • Achievement of a TOEFL score of 550 on the paper-based test; a score of 197 on the computer-based test, or a score of 71 on the Internet-based test (iBT)
      • Achievement of an IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score of 5.5
      • Successful achievement of the Columbia College English for Academic Purposes program with a grade of B

      Other Requirements as determined by the program.

      Human Services Professional Diploma

      Academic Requirements for Full or Part-Time Students

      To be admitted to the Human Services Professional Diploma Program, the candidate must successfully complete the Human Services Professional Certificate Program at Columbia College or its equivalent from a recognized institution or its equivalent. The candidate must also meet other admission requirements as determined by the program.

       

      Admission Application

      The first step in the admission process is to complete the Admission Application. This is located at the back part of the Academic Calendar or click on the Application button above.

      In order to help us admit the most suitable candidates for this program, each applicant will be required to submit a number of documents (e.g. list of references) and engage in several activities (e.g. personal interviews). These requirements will be provided to you as you proceed through the admission process and prior to official acceptance and course enrollment.
