Convocation/Graduation in March 2020

Our next convocation/graduation ceremony will be on Sunday, March 22, 2020 at the Jack Singer Concert Hall. The address for the Jack Singer Concert Hall is: 205 8 Ave SE, Calgary.

This convocation ceremony is open to those who graduated between January – December 2019.

The deadline for graduate registration is February 3, 2020.

All graduates who wish to attend must register.

Guest Speaker

Columbia College is very excited to welcome Drew Dudley as our speaker at Convocation this year.

Drew Dudley is the Founder & Chief Catalyst of Day One Leadership, Inc., which helps organizations around the world increase their leadership capacity. His clients have included some of the world’s most dynamic companies and organizations, including McDonald’s, JP Morgan Chase, and over 75 colleges and universities. Prior to founding Day One, he spent 8 years as the Director of one of Canada’s largest leadership development programs at the University of Toronto, and served as National Chair of one of Canada’s largest youth charities, which mobilized 35,000 volunteers to raise a million dollars annually to support the work of Cystic Fibrosis Canada.

Drew has spoken to over 250,000 people on 5 continents, been featured on The Huffington Post, Radio America, Forbes.com, and TED.com, where his “TED talk” has been voted “one of the 15 most inspirational TED talks of all time”. TIME, Business Insider and Inc. magazines have all named his talk as one of their “10 speeches that will make you a better leader”.

Drew’s first book This is Day One: A Practical Guide to Leadership That Matters debuted at #6 on The Wall Street Journal Bestseller List, and has gone on to become an international bestseller.

Students must register to attend and participate in convocation.

Guest Tickets

Guest tickets can be purchased from the Arts Common website. To purchase tickets, please click on this link – https://artscommons.ca/whats-on/2020/columbia-college-convocation/.

Tickets will be required for all guests over the age of 2 years old or those who require a seat. Tickets will be $5 each.

Guests from out of town?

Please note that if you have guests coming from out of town, the Holiday Inn Calgary Airport (16th Ave and 19th Street) is offering a special rate of $80 per night including breakfast. Please just mention you are with Columbia College to access this group rate.

Details for the Day of the Event

The ceremony will begin at 1 pm. We ask that graduates arrive at 11:30 am to provide time for gowning and then line-up. Guests are asked to be seated by 12:30 pm at the latest. Graduate line up will begin at 12:40 pm in the foyer.
