Career Advising

Career Advisors are knowledgeable about the current labour market including information on wages, employment outlook, and the skills needed to be successful in the occupation or industry of your choice.

In-depth assistance is provided to students who want to clarify career direction or determine occupations of interest. In our meetings with students motivators, and future goals are discussed.

Students who are unsure of career interests, have the opportunity to complete an online assessment through Career Cruising. Learners answer questions about their likes and dislikes to discover careers that match their interests. These identified careers can then be researched and explored with a Career Advisor to determine attainability.

All English as a Second Language (ESL) learners meet with a career advisor to discuss past educational background, and work experience. Career Advisors will also initiate discussions around strengths, personal interests, and career aspirations. From these conversations, the learner and career advisor develop a career plan. Plans incorporate English language levels and educational requirements. Learners can choose to attend further training after their completion of ESL or directly enter the workforce.
