IELTS Preparation Course (Online)
The IELTS Preparation Course effectively prepares students for the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) examination. This comprehensive and academically rigorous course includes the teaching of test practice strategies and skills for all areas of the IELTS exam, both the Academic and General Training modules.
The IELTS Prep course puts equal weight on reading writing, listening, speaking and test taking strategies. The course also covers sub skills such as academic vocabulary, academic style and study skills each day.
The platform used to deliver this online course is Microsoft Teams, training is included in the course delivery.
All prospective students must take a Columbia College Canadian Language Benchmarks placement test, or provide evidence of achieved CLBs from an assessment centre, a LINC or EAL program, taken within the last year, and must demonstrate that they have completed a minimum of CLB 6 in each language skill (listening, speaking, reading, and writing).

Objectives & Assessments
The IELTS Prep course will include a practice exam every Thursday so students and instructors are able to monitor students’ progress. Students are able to receive instant feedback to allow them to make decisions on which areas to improve in. The instructor will provide each student with a report at the end of the semester with two areas of strength and two areas to improve. A certificate of completion with a percentage of attendance will be provided by the College upon completion.
