The main job of an animal control officer is to maintain a safe environment for the public as well as animals. They do so by enforcing local and regional laws concerning animal and human care. They are responsible for patrolling areas, responding to calls regarding stray animals, suspected animal cruelty, deceased animals, etc., investigate animal cruelty cases, issue citations and warning to those involved in mistreating animals, rescue animals from an unsafe environment or people, and provide educational seminars on animal welfare, etc.
